There is a new prototype, set to launch in 2017, which can help fold clothes and free your time up. The machine itself would cost around £590, and the auto folding machine contains three settings: folding, steaming, and de-wrinkling, which works for shirts, trousers and towels.
The machine, called Foldmate, is said to take around 10 seconds to carefully fold each item, with de-wrinkling taking between 20 and 30 seconds a piece. Depending on the fabric thickness, the machine is also able to take a load of between 10 and 30 garments.
The team who designed it have claimed it the dishwasher of the clothes world. Similar to washing dishes by hand, which would be as quick as folding laundry, the Foldmate would free up your time and save a lot of your energy when it comes to folding clothes.
The downside to these machines, however, is that it cannot replace the good quality of ironing dress shirts by hand, as well, it is not yet equipped to folding much smaller or much larger items.
The team at Spares Direct are rather keen to see how this new appliance could take off. We offer a range of products to help repair and replace the broken, or worn down sections of your washing machines, tumble dryers and fridges.
